Dante’s Inferno Review

Let’s step away from movies for a minute, and talk about an excellent horror game. I bought this on PS3 last week, and all I can say from the moment I put the game in, was “WOW”. I got hooked on this fantastic horror game and couldn’t put the remote down. This game was extremely well made and the graphics were excellent, from the demons, to the backgrounds. The game was full of demons, monsters and other crazy evil spirits.

It’s about an Italian Mercenary named Dante that tries to get the soul of his loved one, Beatrice. She was pulled into hell by an evil force and Dante must go through the 9 circles of hell to get her back. Dante uses a cross for his holy powers and a scythe for his violent unholy powers. You get to chose to absolve and forgive the sins or punish them, allowing you to you build up Dante’s unholy or holy meter to unlock different upgrades to his weapons, moves and spells.

The backgrounds in this game are simply amazing. Each circle of hell becomes more interesting and giving you the chance to fight against more evil demons along the way. But the graphics are extremely well done and made this game worth the money.

The background soundtrack is also good and sets an eerie mood to the game.

Dante doesn’t talk much, when he does; it’s usually to the spirit guiding him or certain demons. However it sometimes sounds like he says the same thing each time. “Who has passed this circle?” etc.etc. If you play the game, you will start to see it as well. However, that’s not to bash the game, because the rest is well worth it.

If you are a horror fan, I highly, strongly recommend that you get this game. Play on easy difficulty if you need to, guaranteed you will enjoy this game!

Paranormal Activity Review

Rating 6.5/10

Paranormal Activity stars Katie Featherson as Katie and Micah Sloat as Micah, as a couple that had just moved into a suburban home. Katie believes there is something that had always haunted her and follows her. Therefore, Micah gets a video camera to tape themselves and their home to try and catch this paranormal activity on tape.  On the first couple of nights, you see that the paranormal object/ghost/demon has followed her into their new home. They then bring in a psychic, in which he believes it’s a demon and not a ghost. He recommends them not to try and communicate with it or the haunting may get worse. Eventually the demon gets aggravated with whatever it wants, making the paranormal occurrences to get worse. The movie does have some memorable scenes, and does build up to a suspenseful ending.

Now, I purchased this on Blu Ray, and it came with an alternate ending version. I watched the original one first and then the second version. However, I do believe the original ending was the better one. Either way, it did have a suspenseful ending.

Well after viewing the film. Crypt of Gore doesn’t think it meets up to the hype that others made it up to be when it first came out. Sure it does have its moments, but I am also sure there are other terrifying and suspenseful movies out there. However, the movie wasn’t bad, don’t get me wrong. The acting was excellent as well. The movie starts to get better when it builds up during the middle of the film all the way to the end. This is when the paranormal activity occurs more. However, nothing too over the top. I think the reason was to make it to be as if it had actually happened and basically trying to make it more believable.

In conclusion, I didn’t think it build up to the hype as everyone has been talking about when the movie first came out. Nonetheless, it was still a good horror movie, and did have a couple of good memorable scenes. So… Crypt of Gore, still recommends this movie to the horror fans out there.

End of The Line Review

Movie Rating 5.5/10

Gore Rating 2.5/5

Okay, just finished viewing End of the Line. Interesting film but just an acceptable horror movie, nothing special. Now, I also bought this movie at Blockbuster for 6 bucks. It was worth the six bucks. But I wouldn’t go all out for this movie. If you can get it for cheap, then check it out. But I will say it’s not for all the horror fans out there.

End of the Line does grab your attention at the beginning. The first 5 minutes of viewing the film, I had figured, this should turn out to be a good horror film. But after that, it started to be just an okay movie. The plot wasn’t bad, but the cult gang to me was just getting somewhat annoying at times. It can get confusing at first between the demons and the cult as well, but at the end, you start to understand better. The acting was satisfactory, nothing special.

Basically the movie is a subway train that gets stuck at the end of the night in the tunnel.  There is a small bunch of people on there and some subway employees that try to escape, then there are the supernatural forces and religious cult members that start to go after them. It’s basically Armageddon, and the cult members are killing off people as they believe it will save them.

The film stars Ilona Elkin, Nicolas Wright, Tim Rozen, Nina Fillis and some others. Again, Crypt of Gore recommends that you pick it up for cheap or rent it first. There are a couple of good gory scenes as well as a creepy ending that will stick with you.

Laid To Rest Review

Rating 7.5/10

Gore rating 4/5

Laid to Rest is one great horror movie that’s full of excellent gory kill scenes. I picked the movie up at Blockbuster for $6.99 previously viewed. I had my doubts going into this film since I hadn’t heard much of it before. However, once I viewed it, I was amazed at some of the scenes!  Laid to rest has an okay story line, but Crypt of Gore, enjoys it because of the gore.

Laid to Rest stars Bobbi Sue Luther, Kevin Gage, Lena Headey, Sean Whalen, and Nick Principe. The film is basically about a girl who wakes up in a casket and can’t remember much due to a head injury.  She escapes the maniac who wears a Chrome Skull mask, and goes by the name Chrome Skull. As she tries to find a safe place and get help, the more people she comes in contact with, eventually dies off by Chrome Skull. The Girl attempts to run away after escaping the coffin and then gets picked up by Tucker, in which he brings her to his home to help her out. Chrome Skull still finds her. They then go to a neighbour’s house to find a phone, as Tucker’s phone service had been cut off. The neighbour, Steven, played by Sean Whalen answers the door, where they find out he doesn’t have a phone service either, but he does have a computer, where they try to find out more about the maniac, Chrome Skull. After that, they drive to the police station to find the sheriff. The story continues on, as they try to get away from Chrome Skull, but he keeps catching up to them. That’s pretty much it for the story line and I don’t want to giveaway some good moments in the movie, it’s a pretty basic and bland plot for a horror film. Where there’s a maniac going after a girl. But we still think it’s a good slasher flick that is worth checking out.

Laid To Rest has some memorable gory moments in the film. The acting wasn’t bad, but the story line does lack somewhat. However, like what was stated, it does make up for it in the gory kill scenes.  No giveaways but I am sure you will never look at spare tire filler the same way after that one scene!

In Conclusion, Crypt of Gore highly recommends horror fans to buy this movie. Don’t settle for renting it, just go ahead and pick it up, you won’t regret it!

Midnight Meat Train Review

Gore Level 2/5

Rating 7/10

Clive Barker’s Midnight Meat Train turned out to be an actually good horror movie. I know some viewers will have mixed opinions on this one. However, we thought it was a great turn out. It’s also much better than some the other horror movies that have been produced lately.  This film was based on the short story obviously known as The Midnight Meat Train from Clive Barker. I enjoyed the movie as much as the short story. I must say though, I am a Clive Barker fan, and I do enjoy his work, so that’s probably another reason as to why I enjoyed the movie. Nevertheless it’s still a great horror movie that I would recommend and is worth watching. I bought this film on Blu Ray and I don’t regret buying it, it was money well spent. Although if you view it on blu ray, you do seem some grain in the film. The movie also has good rewatch value. The film starred popular actors/actresses such as Vinnie Jones, Brooke Shields,  Leslie Bibb and Bradley Cooper. I thought Vinnie Jones played his character as Mahogany, The Meat Train character very well, even though he was silent throughout the movie. I don’t really have a problem with the acting/actors at all. Well Done.

The Midnight Meat Train was about a photographer that lives with his girlfriend, and he has a chance to get into the photo business. It is at night, Leon, the photographer decides to go around the streets taking pictures and photos. When a gang attacks a woman at the subway station, he comes to defend her. However, to find out, that the woman suddenly is missing the next morning, Leon takes a deep interest in finding out what had happened to this woman. Thus he returns to the subway station and starts taking photos and begins his own investigating. He then finds a butcher that he feels may indeed be the murderer and begins to follow him. But little does he know, what awaits him in the Midnight Meat Train.

The movie stars Vinnie Jones as the Butcher (Mahogany),  Bradley Cooper as Leon, Leslie Bibb as Maya, Brooke Shields as Susan and Roger Bart as Jurgis.
